Teaching Practice

The Workshop
As a group we had a workshop that was a funny and different way to put in practice some activities before the real classes, to achieve and improve our teaching skills. Is a good way to have interaction with our classmates, and also a good time to enjoy with some activities that we can develop in our future classes in the Teaching Practice.




Then my classmates develop some topics during classes that was the teaching clasess. They presented some classes and they show their teaching skills and they tried to put into practice some things that they learned during the workshop. In that practice we learn some pedagogical techniques that can help us in the classroom to interact with our students. As we know, some classes may become bored, and the dullness could be present in the classroom, and the activities that we learned in the practice is a different and funny way to interact with our students, and give them an opportunity to learn and practice the new knowledge in different ways.

The first pair of the teaching classes was teacher Georgina and Yesmin.
The topic was: Cars will Fly

Teacher Georgina was the first, she started the class asking to the students to stand up and make groups, and then the play a game. Georgina presented a game, where the T said a fruit or an object and students should guess the word that they had in mind & run toward the board & write the answer, then Georgina showed a little flashcard with the correct answer and if the students had the correct answer they got a point.

Teacher Georgina provided to the students some worksheets where they had to listen an audio and then they needed to write down the word that the audio said according to what they listenned.

At the end of the class the students played the hot potato game, and they have to pass the hot potato, the one that had the hot potato when the teacher stopped the music had to saw a picture and chose the word that corresponded to that picture.

The class was presented by teacher Karla and teacher Abigail.
The topic was: Transportation. 

Students should create a figure of a transport in a puzzle, teacher provided 2 puzzle to the students who tried to form the pictures per each puzzle. When the students finished the puzzle the teacher gave them a chocolate.

Teachers introduced the topic of transportation. Teachers presented the question: "How do you get to school?” Students needed to take a picture of a transport and then they have to answer by asking to another classmate the question "How do you get to school?” where the student was going to answer about the picture that they had.

The last activity was a game in which students needed to look for a flashcard and depending to the flashcard that they had they had to answer the question “how did you get to school?”

At the end of the class teachers presented a worksheet where students needed to fill in the blank the corresponding spelling per each transportation.


Monday, August 24th. Unit 1, class 

The first pair was teachers Hazel and Abigail, they developped the lesson about family members. The class was focussed on vocabulary.


Teachers introduced their names, and also they provided to the students the rules of the class. In the first activity for warm up, teachers pasted a chart on the board, and then they played the hot potatoe game to choose on student to select the correct option that was on the chart.

Teachers developed the presentation stage to check the previous knowledge. Then, she introduced the target vocabulary. To practice it an activity in which she removed the name and the image of each family member one by one in order to review if students could remember the order of the vocabulary.

On the practice stage, teacher used desks and a paper clouds with one word from the vocabulary were pasted on the desk, after teacher said one family member name and children had to run to sit on the desks.

To conclude the class teachers play a memmory game.



August 31st, Unit 1 Class #2

The class was developed by teachers Karla Rajo and Karla, they develop the grammar part of the topic: My Family .


For the first activity students was passing a doll and when they realized that teacher stopped making noise the student that had the doll had to pass to the front and he was asked to put the correct name tag on one picture.

While the presentation stage, Karla explained the content of the topic, that was the grammar section, and it was focussed on the pronouns “she and he”and the respective form of verb to be “is”.

The students formed two teams for one activity, the teachers provided them some images and they needed to look for the pictures that was linked with boys, and the girls for girls, after that they had to go to the board and paste the right picture per each chart.

The last activity of the class, the teachers passed a ball and the student that had the ball had to identify if the sentence that they were providing was or not correct.



Wednesday 2nd. September 2015.


The class was about the Family Members, and i was the teacher. I really enojoyed that day, i was trying to do my best, althoug i was not prepared to teach, because I had some problems. At the end of the day I solved all the issues with my lesson plan and I was prepared and motivated to teach. The class started at 9:35 and finished at 10:25. The first activity was to active the previous knowleadge in which they had to selecct a name and paste it on the board next to the picture that correspond to the name that they had. Kids were playing the hot potato game to select the one that had to pass to the board.

After the warm up, I started to ask them the names per each family member, and they were answering correctly. After that I explained them the question: "Who is he/she?" and they understood every part. After that we started to play again the hot potato game to select one student that was going to pass to the front, and I was supposed to provide him a family member name and by listen they had to choose the picture that correspond to that name, and then the classmates had to ask to the one that was on the front the question "who is he?" or "who is she?" depending on the picture. The students that were asking used the correct structure per each family member, and the ones that was on the front answerred correctly.





After that, I pass in front of each students with some poppets of 5 different family members and I asked to students the question "Who is he/she?" and they were supposed to answer that question correctly. Students understood each part of the lesson.

In the next activity, I provided them some letters, and they had to form the family members name by listening the words that I was saying. The one that finished first all the words, or most of them, was going to receive a cookie and a juice. They really enjoyed that activity.

After that, I wanted to continue improving their listening skills, I pasted some pictures around classroom and I asked them to be near to the door, and when I said the family member name they had to go and look for the picture that correspond to each family member name. The students enjoyed that activity, and also I enjoyed playing with my students. When they found each picture they had to told me which was the question that correspond per each family member, I mean "who is he?" or "who is she?"

In the last activity I asked for two voluntiers and all of them wanted to participate, I had to play with a coin to select just two of them. The ones that won the game had to introduce their families using the poppets and the pictures that I had on the classroom.

Even if I had some problems at the moment that I was teaching, I was enjoying the class, and thanks to that I have learned to love my career. The feeling at that moment was awesome, you are teaching something that in the future will help them, you are satisfied at the end of your lesson. Being a teacher is amazing.
